French-Italian: the similar-but-different pair
No language competition, we play in the same team
French and Italian are similar because they belong both to the same language family, the Romance. French sentence structure is very similar to Italian, as well as the many language irregularities.
Word morphology is similar to Italian too and this makes it easier to understand a French text than an English or German one: this may be a double-edged sword because we risk to fall into the false-friends trap and to translate wrongly some words.
In written and oral translation of French it’s crucial to know the language grammar rules and its irregularities even better, verbs conjugation – which is complex and anarchic exactly as in Italian – and the lexicon too.
Thanks to interpreting and translation services between Italian and French you’ll be able to speak to the whole francophone world, without catches or misunderstandings.
